Can physician bill for labs that are being sent out?

Julie Posted Mon 15th of July, 2013 19:59:03 PM

We draw several labs in our office that we send to different labs and they send us reports back. Is this okay and are there any that can't be done like this?

Yes, it is ok for you to draw lab samples, send them to different labs for different tests, and receive test results.
Caveat: Payers may have restrictions regarding billing specific tests together, and you'll have to be aware of those limitations.
Also, the lab that performs the work should bill for the service.
