I am conducting a ProFee audit; the physician has coded Z00.01 Encounter for general adult medical examination with abnormal findings, and 96110 Developmental screening (e.g., developmental milestone survey, speech and language delay screen), with scoring and documentation, per standardized instrument. He has also appended the U2 modifier to the 96110. My question is can the 96110 be used as a stand-alone code without an E/M service also coded? I find confirmation that 96111 is used as a stand-alone code but nothing about 96110.

Code 96110 can be used as a stand-alone code without an E/M service also coded.
