burch colposuspension

Lynn Posted Wed 16th of December, 2015 09:21:52 AM

Our doc performed burch colposuspension after genereal surgery performed open rectopexy for fecal incontinence

Two sutures were placed on either side of the urethra in the periurethral fascia at the urethovesical junction and mid-urethra. These sutures were then each placed through Cooper's ligament and tied down.

Appropriate codes for this scenario would be :
(A)If rectopexy is done through abdominal approach
45540 Proctopexy (e.g., for prolapse); abdominal approach
51840 Anterior vesicourethropexy, or urethropexy (e.g., Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz, Burch); simple
(B)If rectopexy is done through perineal approach
45541 Proctopexy (e.g., for prolapse); perineal approach
51840 Anterior vesicourethropexy, or urethropexy (e.g., Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz, Burch); simple
