Yes, breast tomosynthesis can be billed with breast biopsy and needle localization

what tomosynthesis code would be used?

SuperCoder Answered Mon 19th of October, 2015 02:43:33 AM

You can use 77061, 77062, 77063 as per your requirement

Kelly Posted Tue 20th of October, 2015 08:38:37 AM

so the tomosynthesis would not be considered part of the guidance for the biopsy or localization and therefore bundled into the breast procedure codes?

SuperCoder Answered Wed 21st of October, 2015 06:25:45 AM

That was a miss on our part. Tomosynthesis performed with mammo or stereo technique for localization or needle guidance will not be separately reported. It will be considered included in the radiologic guidance codes.
