Breast surgery - Biozorb Implant

Jeanne Posted Tue 30th of August, 2016 13:18:00 PM
Good morning, I am in need of assistance with the additional codes to use when our breast surgeons perform biozorb implant. Since it is done in an out patient facility setting we are not coding for the actual implant C9728. I am trying to find the correct codes to bill for our providers services. Usually the implant is placed when they are performing some sort of lumpectomy or partial mastectomy. Any help is appreciated. thanks!

Hi, please provide some more details of this case for us to provide the exact codes. You may also look at CPT code range 19316-19396 which has codes for repair and reconstruction procedures on the breast. Thank you.

We are also capturing 19366, 19301, 14000, 19340 & 10140 depending on documentation/procedure performed. With all of these codes is there an additional code to capture for the extra work implanting the biozorb. We have been told by a few sources to use the 19340 or 19366 for the implant but we are leaning toward 19499 the unlisted because we cannot obtain a clear answer.

In this case our suggestion would be to correlate with the details of the procedure performed by the surgeons before going ahead with the final code. Thank you.
