I work for a cardiovascular/thoracic surgeon. lets say he does a left carotid endarterectomy (35301)in the hospital. I know I need to get the diagnosis from the operative report, but I want to make sure the cpt code stays the same.

thank you

Both the CPT and ICD codes are billed depending upon the medical documentation and as per medical necessity as the physician describes it.

Left carotid endarterectomy is coded with 35301, so you are correct in picking that up.
