Blood Transfusion

Karin Posted Thu 17th of May, 2012 15:07:45 PM

It is pretty standard that when a patient has a blood transfusion (36430) we will give them IVPs of Lasix or Benadryl. Is is acceptable to bill out the IVPs 96374 code for these drugs in addition to the 36430? Is is given in between the units of blood. Thanks!

The IV push of Lasix is billable in addition to the blood transfusion represented by 36430 if documentation in the medical record supports medical necessity. No CCi edits between these codes.
