Bladder Irrigation CPT code 51700

Teresa Posted Wed 11th of March, 2015 09:51:35 AM

If a patient comes into the office and already has a stent and the physician peforms a bladder irrigation/instillation through this previously inserted stent does the cpt code 51700 have to be modified with a 52?

Hi Kelly,
Thank you for the query.
Since the procedure in performed through previously placed stent, you need not to append modifier 52 to the CPT code. You can bill the code without any modifier.

I hope this information will be helpful.
