Bipartate Patella Fusion

Margaret Posted Fri 26th of February, 2016 11:40:23 AM

I'm being asked for coding for a fusion of bipartate patella. I know 27580 would be for knee joint. Would it also be for bipartate patella. For the dx would it be either Q68.2 or Q74.1.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is no code for Bipartite patella fusion. You can use CPT code 27437 (Arthroplasty, patella; without prosthesis) and 27438 (Arthroplasty, patella; with prosthesis) for patella fusion.

CPT code 27580 cannot be used since this code is for knee arthrodesis.

Q68.2 is the ICD 10 code for Bipartite patella.
