Billing Provider - Psychology

Vicki Posted Fri 28th of December, 2018 08:56:50 AM
I have a Psych practice and need to know who to bill the service under when the reports are documented and signed by two different physicians, who signs as the psychologist/interviewer, the other provider signs as the interpreting psychologist.

Psychological testing code 96101 has three parameters: test administration by the psychologist/physician, test interpretation and test reporting.

For this code to be billed, provider should administer the test, interpret the test and then prepare the report. If two providers are doing this procedure, only the interpreting provider should bill for the service performed. Ensure, both providers are not billing for the same service since this service is billable for a single rendering provider.
