Latisha Posted Thu 27th of June, 2019 15:59:44 PM
With an EP study what are the billable services/ supplies? The physician is conducting the EP study and because the hospital does not have the machine he is also bring his machine to perform the study. Is there a way to bill for the use of the machine to insurance providers? the machine is Cardiac Generation Ablator model IBI500T11

EP study contains both a technical and professional component. When the physician owns the equipment, performs the test and writes an interpretation, he may bill for the entire procedure by using the appropriate EP study CPT code without any modifiers.

When the physician interprets a test performed on equipment owned by another facility, such as a hospital, he would bill the professional component only by attaching modifier 26 (professional component). The hospital would only bill TC (technical component).
