Billing for IV

William Ivan Posted Fri 06th of February, 2015 13:21:17 PM

Can you please assist in billing a cocktail of vitamins via IV.

To clarify, our physician deals with an insurance company that allows such wellness encounters. I am clear on what CPT to use for the administration via IV, what I am not clear on what code I should use for the vitamins. When I asked the physician, his response was that it is a mixture of various items that he determines. There is no set specific name on the IV solution.

Is it Meyer's cocktail? What was the content of mixture?

Its a combination of micronutrients, and B12

You can bill HCPCS code J3420 for Vit B12.
You need to provide us with the list of all the micronutrients that were in the mixture.
