Hi Are we allowed to bill for Community Health Workers who meet with the patients to assist with completing insurance and housing applications,and/or going to court with the patient due to eviction process. This frequently takes 1-2 or more visits as well as non-face time for telephonic interaction with patient and f/u with agencies on status of the applications etc.. How would we bill for this service being performed by a non-clinical individual?

Please use appropriate code from the CPT code range 98960 - 98962.

  • 98960 - for face to face education and training for indiviual patient.
  • 98961 - for face to face education and training for 2 - 4 patients.
  • 98962 - for face to face education and training for 5 - 8 patients.

Ensure, the interaction is direct face to face. Any other type of interaction such as telephonic interaction will not get this code paid.
