Can a doctor bill for an assessment that the fellow is completing, If they do an addendum to the fellow's documentation?

Thanks for your question.

 

In the above scenario the teaching physician guidelines should be met for the physician to bill.

 

As per the CMS, when a physician bills for the E/M service, he must personally document that he performed the service or were physically present during the critical or key portions of the service furnished by the resident and also physician participation in the management of the patient.
