bill for placement of vancomycin-impregnated beads?

Vera Posted Tue 12th of November, 2013 18:50:16 PM

The op report says revision and clousre with debridement and placement of vancomycin-impregnated beads to the left foot ... i thought the proper codes would be 13160 and 11981, but the dr said the 2nd code should be about biodegradeable, not "non-biodegradealbe" - as the code states, but i cannot find a code to suit that phrase ? The Dr should be paid for the insertion of the anti-b ??? Thank you.

We are working on this.

If the supply is a biodegradeable implant, its insertion and removal is included in the primary surgical code, not separately payable with 11981.
