bill a 95951-52 (video EEG) for two physicians on the same date of service

Is it acceptable to bill a 95951-52 (video EEG) for two physicians on the same date of service if one covers the first 12 hours of recording and the other one covers the second 12 hours of recording?

Thanks for the question.

Code 95951 suggests that the provider uses electroencephalographic monitoring for identification and localization of a cerebral seizure focus. The patient wears a 16 or more channel ambulatory EEG. The provider also does video monitoring of the patient movement and interprets the results. Use this code for each 24 hours of monitoring.

The code 95951 is a time based code for 24 hours and should be billed only once on a date of service, irrespective of number of physicians.

Hope this helps.
