Bilateral Selective Carotids & Right Internal Mammary artery, Right Vertebral

Oscar Posted Thu 02nd of July, 2015 08:03:38 AM

My doctor has performed Bilateral Selective Carotids as
Right side catheter placement in Innominate artery and documented about common carotid, external carotid, Internal carotid totally blocked & Right Internal Mammary artery, also documented about Right Vertebral as Mild disease.
Left side catheter placed in Common carotid and documented about common, external, internal and cerebral carotid arteries.

So, I am reporting 36223 & 36222-59

And now my question is Should we code 36225-52 for Right Internal Mammary Artery & Right vertebral artery documentation? or Leave it?

Thanks

Thank you for your question, I do not find the need for additional coding as CPT 36225 per your description, for the mere fact that visualization can be done for additional vessels by injection into the proximal ones. If you want a more specific answer you need to send the operative report through our operative report section i.e.(http://www.supercoder.com/coding-answers/coding-on-demand) for coding of an operative report or chart note and you can contact (866)228-9252 or e-mail customerservice@supercoder.com for more information.
Hope it helps!
