AV fistula with interposition graft

Hwa Posted Tue 16th of June, 2015 14:24:37 PM

My surgeon performed: left basilic vein transposition arteriovenous fistula with an interposition of a CorMatrix conduit. Would this just be coded with 36819?

Well, yes you are correct. CPT 36819 appropriate to code for basilic vein transposition arteriovenous fistula anastomosis. In this procedure, the provider creates an arteriovenous anastomosis, by connecting the basilic vein to the brachial artery in the arm to provide better vascular access in patients with kidney failure who will receive hemodialysis treatment.
