Aspiration of Cyst Biopsy

Terri Posted Tue 30th of August, 2016 16:52:49 PM
My provider performed an aspiration of a cyst located on top of the patient's RT foot adjacent from the 5th metatarsal and 18 inch gauge was used and clear fluid was with drawn and sent for biopsy. My question is what CPT do I bill for BIOPSY? Thank you so much

You withdraw the fluid by aspiration and sent it for biopsy, so bill only for aspiration in this case, need not to bill biopsy separately. In addition to this, pathology procedure(s) has to be billed by lab.
