aortic root debridement

Lynn Posted Fri 11th of December, 2015 08:18:49 AM

what code would i use for a aortic root debridement due to infection, this was done along with aortic valve replacement and mitral valve replacemnt? If unlisted what would i compare it to? Thank you

Here is what the note says for the debridement

The ascending aorta was cross-clamped. Cardioplegia was given retrograde. Then, the ascending aorta was opened with hockey stick aortotomy. The valve was inspected. There was a trileaflet aortic valve. The right coronary cusp was detached from annulus about one-third close to the *** noncommissure post. Then the leaflet was resected. There was small abscess underneath the right coronary cusp close to the interleaflet triangle of right-noncommissure. The area was debrided. There was no fistula. The annulus above that abscess was intact. The two other cusps were normal, which were resected. The annulus was sized and a 23-millimeter Magna Ease was chosen.

Thanks for your query,

I researched on it (Aortic root debridement), but no definitive code was found, so please you unlisted code for this procedure.

We can compare this with CPT 33300 (Repair of cardiac wound, without bypass).
