Anterior interbody fusion with Corpectomy

Wendy Posted Fri 28th of January, 2011 15:41:12 PM

My physician is stating that since he is performing a corpectomy instead of discectomy with the interbody fusion, that we should be using 22554 instead of the new code 22551. Does anyone have any guidance? Thanks for your your help.

For corpectomy procedure the code series are 63081-91 series. Are you referring something I am not getting ?

We are billing 63081 for the cervical corpectomy. The physician also performs anterior interbody fusion. Since corpectomy is done and not just discectomy, should we be using 22554 with 63081 rather than 22551? Thanks again.
