Anterior Cervical Diskectomy C7-T1 with drainage of prevertebral/paravertebral A

Sandra Posted Wed 27th of May, 2015 18:50:05 PM

Needing direction on how to capture the correct codes for Anterior Cervical Diskectomy with drainage of prevertebral and paravertebral abscess. I'm thinking 63075 & 22010. Would the drainage be included with the 63075 or would the 22010 be appropriate? Thanks

Well, as there is no CCI edits between 63075 and 22010, so they can be billed together. However, if the location of the abscess is such that it must be drained before making diskectomy possible, then only CPT 63075 is appropriate.
