Procedure title: Left VATS decortication, evacuation of loculated pleural effusion, exclusion of abscess cavity. The description of 32651 is the closest VATS procedure I found. Am I missing something? Please advise. Thanks!!

The primary procedure was the decortication and since the surgeon was already in the chest cavity, he is going to clean out the abscess cavities as well before closing. If partial decortication is done than CPT 32651 is appropriate and if total left lung decortication is done than CPT 32652 is appropriate.

Hope that helps!
