Anesthesia Code for Joint Injections

Vicki Posted Thu 10th of December, 2015 14:56:01 PM

If the anesthesiologist is providing anesthesia via TIVA or MAC and the procedure is for joint injections (Knee, Hip or SI or injections for TMJ, what anesthesia code would be billed....01991/01992? The description reads nerve blocks and injections.

Correct code would be 01991 Anaesthesia for diagnostic or therapeutic nerve blocks and injections (when block or injection is performed by a different physician or other qualified health care professional); other than the prone position as patient should be in a supine position for such injections.
