ADD ON CODE 64727

Natalie Posted Wed 10th of April, 2013 17:06:00 PM

MY DOCTOR IS AN OTOLARYNGOLOGIST AND WANTS TO KNOW IF CPT CODE 64727 ADD ON CODE USE OF OPERATING MICROSCOPE IS EQUIVALENT TO USING SURGICAL LOOPS DURING SURGERY

Code +64727 is for "internal neurolysis" procedure which require use of operating microscope. This CPT is an add-on code which requires use of a primary CPT code for Neuroplasty.

If doctor is performing internal neurolysis with surgical loupes, use +64727.

But if doctor is using loupes for some other procedure, then as an equivalent of operating microscope, you need to use +69990. Do not use 69990 along with 64727.
