90746 Hepatitis B vaccine

Heidi Posted Wed 17th of April, 2013 15:21:06 PM

this code is for a 3 dose schedule. Do you bill this code with the administration code each time the vaccine is given or does the code cover all 3 doses?

Yes. Code 90746 is revised this year to include "3 dose schedule" texts within descriptor. So, you still bill this code 90746 ONLY ONCE for all 3 doses. You do not bill that code thrice. Billing once will take care for 3 times. This is similar for the catheter codes where post-op daily mgmt. is included and daily injection is not billed separately every day (CPT 64448).

SO WHILE BILLING 90746, BILL THE ADMIN. CODE ALSO. Both are billed only once.

The diff. b/w 90746 and 90739 (new code) is that the first is 3-dose while the 2nd is 2 dose product.
