If a patient with prostate cancer receiving Lupron has a dexa scan....what is a covered dx that goes with that? Our providers order them to make sure they have no developed osteoporosis or osteopenia....however...registration is upset cause an ABN keeps popping up when they order these tests and they want the provider to use a ICD-10 on the order that this won't happen.

To me....after reading the policies...a screening code is about all I can see.....but anyone know of a good dx to add to the order of a 77080?
Thank you

For the above mentioned scenario, the patient is on Lupron and is being assessed for risk of osteoporosis, hence with CPT 77080, the ICD 10 codes which seems to be most appropriate are Z79.818, Z13.820.

Hope, this helps.
