72170, 73500 vs 73510 which is correct?

Leslie Posted Tue 18th of October, 2011 15:55:51 PM

Our doctor's always request 72170 AP Pelvis 1-2 view and a 73500 1 view of hip.... Now we are being told by the facility that shoots the x-rays that this is incorrect and we should only be doing 73510. From my research, billing out 72170 & 73500 together is not a bundling issue so it shouldn't be a problem since they are different views..... Which is correct?

It is ok to code 73500 and 72170 for hip and pelvis views.
