64615 and modifier 52

Tina Posted Mon 10th of June, 2013 17:54:59 PM

For the new CPT '64615' for chemodenervation for migraines, if the physician does not inject all of the nerves/muscles and/or do the injections bilaterally, would it be appropriate to append modifier 52?

Modifier 52 will be appropriate here.

You can report 64615 only once per session. Likewise, you should not report the new CPT® code as bilateral as the code description already defines the injections as bilateral.
