hello, Does 59812 included a subsequent visit at the hospital on same day by a different provider? OT patient procedure

As per the provided documentation, the surgeon who performed the procedure 59812 would bill for the procedure and appropriate E/M service; if performed. The provider who performed the subsequent visit would be billing for his part of service rendered.

Scenario-1) If the patient was seen by the different physician (of same speciality), then you cannot report for a separate E/M for that day.

Scenario-2) If the patient was seen by the different physician (other speciality), then code as per the below suggested codes.

  • Inpatient consultation (99251–99255)

Note: Choose the appropriate code as per the component requirement (i.e., history, physical examination, medical decision making). Your medical documentation should support the code you are selecting to prevent it from getting denied.

Hope it helps.
