CAN WE BILL FOR 45378 TWICE IF IT WERE PERFORMED IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS?

TRANSVERSE COLON
DESCENDING COLON
SIGMOIN COLON
AND RECTUM.

No. Colonoscopy is the examination of the entire colon, from the rectum to the cecum, and may include examination of the terminal ileum or small intestine proximal to an anastomosis. You cannot bill CPT 45378 with -XS modifier. as this procedure include the examination of entire colon.

What if it were to code the multiple biopsies taken?

TERMINAL ILEUM
ASCENDING COLON
TRANSVERSE COLON
DESCENDING COLON
SIGMOID COLON
AND RECTUM

CPT 45380 (Colonoscopy, flexible; with biopsy, single or multiple) can only be bill once for single or multiple biopsies during colonoscopy. If Brushing or washing were also performed on the different locations other than biopsies, then CPT code 45378 can be billed.
