Linda Posted Mon 19th of May, 2014 16:06:34 PM

Is is appropriate to code mult lymphnode excisions on the same side of the neck even though the definition of the codes has Lymphnode (s) and is bilateral applicable?

Sorry--Lymph nodes

I am not sure if I understood your question completely but 38510-this code describes open excision using a scalpel to expose the node of concern. The code may only be used once no matter how many nodes are biopsied/excised in the same area. Biopsies/excision performed on the contralateral side are coded by using modifier 50.
