I have a provider that has preformed a BAL (31624) in the right upper lobe and Right middle lobe. would you be able to bill for both of these since it is in the same lung? (we have path reports for both areas) Thanks,

Hello,

In this scenario, the correct code that the physician should bill would be 31624 only. No RT, LT modifier is applicable since the MUE for this code is 1. Also, site will be considered as only one site, i.e. right lung. Furthermore, selection of lobes to be lavaged depends on the abnormality/disease for which lavage and bronchoscopy is to be done. HOPE THIS HELPS!
