Hello louise,

Thank you for your question.

As per the above provided documentation, find the below suggested codes.

Laparoscopic Right salpingo-oophorectomy

CPT® code 58661- Laparoscopy, surgical; with removal of adnexal structures (partial or total oophorectomy and/or salpingectomy).

Uterine dilation and curettage

CPT® code 58120- Dilation and curettage, diagnostic and/or therapeutic (nonobstetrical)

Omental biopsy, Peritoneal bx

CPT® code 49321- Laparoscopy, surgical; with biopsy (single or multiple)

In this procedure, the provider examines the inside of the abdomen through a laparoscope, a tubular instrument with a light source and camera, he uses suction to evacuate any free fluid. He examines the organs and structures for evidence of disease. The provider takes one or more biopsies of suspicious tissues and submits them to a laboratory for analysis.

Biopsy is a technique to remove a portion or the entirety of suspicious tissue for pathologic examination; types of biopsies include excisional, incisional, punch, needle, open.

You may report CPT® code 49321, instead of 49320, basis your detailed procedure note.

Note:

In CPT® code 49320, the provider examines the inside of the abdomen through a laparoscope, a tubular instrument with a light source and camera, He inspects the peritoneum, the membrane lining of the abdominal cavity, and the fatty vascularized tissues of the omentum, a large fold of membrane that hangs like an apron across the abdomen. He may brush and wash the area to obtain cells for analysis.

Brushing and washing is a diagnostic technique in which a provider uses a soft brush and irrigation to remove cellular material for laboratory analysis.

Code 49321 is a column 2 code for 58661, but you may use a CCI-associated modifier to override the edit under appropriate circumstances.

Also, as per CCI Edits, code 49320 is a column 2 code for 58661. You may not override the edit.

Hope that helps!

Thanks
