My surgeon performed: Rt 2nd proximal interphalangeal & distal interphalangeal joint fusions; 2nd metatarsal osteotomy w/ capsulotomy; 2nd plantar plate stabilization & Hallux phalangeal osteomy And wanting to bill: 28298, 28285, 28308, 28313, 28208 There are bundling edits associated with these codes. If they qualify, they can be unbundled. There was one (1) incision, but different areas that were repaired within that incision. Would these qualify to unbundle?

All the codes mentioned above get bundled into each other but an modifier is allowed to distinguish between the procedures performed. We will require the operative report to clearly identify the codes that can be billed and codes that might get bundled into the other procedures. Also, AAE does not provide coding for operative reports and chart notes. SuperCoder offers SuperCoding on Demand (SOD) (http://www.supercoder.com/coding-answers/coding-on-demand) for coding of an operative report or chart note and you can contact (866)228-9252 or e-mail customerservice@supercoder.com for more information.
