22900 for non-tumor?

Krisan Posted Thu 26th of February, 2015 18:10:09 PM

Can we report a code like 22900 when the mass excised was NOT a tumor? The path report indicates endometriosis. If yes, where is this point documented? Thanks.

Hi Krisan,
Thank you for the query.
No, CPT code 22900 represents excision of a tumor and should only be used for the excision of a tumor which is subfacial. for endometriosis excision of abdominal wall, code 49203.

Hope it help you.

Thank you
