12/30 a war removal with frozen/cyro was done. pt retruned on 1/6 and Pt had wart surgically removed since there was no is within global. can I bill with a modifier? thx.

As per the above documentation, wart was removed on 12/30 with frozen/ cryo procedure, whereas, the same lesion was removed surgically on 1/6; if the procedure was planned append modifier “58” (Staged or Related Procedure or Service by the Same Physician or Other Qualified Health Care Professional during the Postoperative Period) to the second excision code. However, if it was unplanned, append modifier 78 (Unplanned Return to the Operating/Procedure Room by the Same Physician or Other Qualified Health Care Professional Following Initial Procedure for a Related Procedure During the Postoperative Period)
