11602 with 17262

Karin Posted Mon 06th of February, 2012 14:38:00 PM

Second Request for an answer to my question or at least some guidance - thanks again!

If you excise a malignant lesion and bill 11602 and then at that same location or site you do a curettage and destruction 17262. The physician wants to put a modifier 59 on the 17262? I feel that it would be incorrect? It is not a different site so the 17262 is bundled into the 11602 per the CCI edits. Thanks for any advice...

So it is all the same site/lesion and it is OK to put the modifier on the excison code? Just don't want to be unbundling...Thxs
