READER QUESTIONS:

Report Diskography per Level

Question: If a physician performs diskography at L2-L3, L3-L4 and L4-L5, how many times should we report the diskography?

Missouri Subscriber

Answer: You should report 72295 (Diskography, lumbar, radiological supervision and interpretation) for each level the physician injects during diskography. You should also report injection codes 62290 (Injection procedure for diskography, each level; lumbar) or 62291 (... cervical or thoracic) as appropriate.

You should bill the supervision and interpretation of diskography for each level that the physician performs, so in this case you should report 72295 (Diskography, lumbar, radiological supervision and interpretation) three times.

L2-L3 refers to the first lumbar level, L3-L4 represents the second lumbar level, and L4-L5 is the third lumbar level.
