Get to Know the New Senile Cataract Codes

In 2015, your diagnosis coding will specify condition as well as which eye is affected.

When the ICD-10 diagnosis codes take effect on Oct. 1, 2015, optometry coders will suddenly find themselves with a greatly expanded list of options for reporting senile cataracts. As we’ve seen with most of the eye and adnexa ICD-10 codes, most of the new codes will specify not only the condition, but whether the left, right, both or an unspecified eye is affected.
