   Pt had a vaginal vault suspension surgery 4 or 5 years ago. Pt complains of vaginal bleeding without pain. She was noted to have a retained suture at the apex of the vault on office examination. Under examination vaginal wall was significantly shortened. Dr placed forceps into friable tissue and a suture was grasped. This was a green permanent suture. A long piece of suture was pulled out and the suture was excised. I could not find a code for this procedure. What code would I use for this procedure?

   There is no specific code for vaginal suture removal nor can we assign any unlisted code to it. I would go for E/M code and based on extensive nature of removal, the level of E/M would be higher.
