  1. When the physician takes his own US equipment to the ASC for use on his patients, may he bill it globally with place of service 23?

  2. No, physician can't bill for the technical component (globally), if procedure performed in a hospital/emergency room regardless who provided the equipment.

  3. The POS is 24 here, not 23

For Ultrasounds, you will find value for both Global and TC components only, not for professional component.
    So, in an ASC,
    - a physician can't bill for ultrasound interpretation only.
    - an ASC can bill globally for providing services both for US and for interpretation
    - an ASC can also bill for TC part; say providing only US part without interpretation.

So, a physician doesn't have a stake in the billing convention. There can be only contractual reimbursement between the physician and the ASC if the physician owns the equipment.
