  1. I AM TRYING TO CODE LATE EFFECT CVA WITH AUDITORY AND VISUAL COMPREHENSION. I HAVE USED CODE: 438.7 BUT CODE DOES NOT WORK FOR MEDICAL NECESSITY FOR SPEECH THERAPY. I HAVE TRIED TO USE 438.0 LATE EFFECT CVA FOR COGNITIVE DEFICITS BUT THAT SEEMS TO NOT MEET MEDICAL NECESSITY. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THIS MORNING TO USE CODE 780.93 FOR SPEECH THERAPY BUT THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO INDICATE ANYTHING RELATED TO LATE EFFECT OF CVA.

  2. You need to report the ICD- 438.10 for speech and language deficit and 438.7 for visual disturbance(Also, use addition Dx to identify visual disturbance.
The sequencing in this case should be the condition or nature of the late effect should be sequenced first and the late effect code is sequenced second.

  3. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE!!! I GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!
