  1. Employing ultrasound quidance, perineural infiltration and hydrodissection was completed using a 27g needle around the minor occipital nerve with 1.5 ml steroid mixture. Next, the greater occipital nerve was identified. Hydrodissection of the greater occipital nerve from the semispinalis capitis and inferior oblique muscle was completed with 2.5cc of the steroid mixture.

Does anyone know how I would code this hydrodissection?

  2. This procedure is performed by a doctor using a needle under careful ultrasound imaging guidance. Small amounts of fluid are injected around the nerve to “free up” the median nerve (which can become scarred and adhere to it’s surrounding tendons). This allows the nerve to glide easier and many times has the same effect as a surgical release. The numbness, tingling, and pain go away.

There is no specific CPT code for this. The range of codes for related neuroplasty CPTs range is 64702-64727. The only possible code that can closely fit in here is 64722 [Decompression; unspecified nerve(s) (specify)], otherwise you can go for unlisted one, i.e;64999.
