    In Arizona, the major workman's comp carrier has no fee schedule nor are CPT codes used in billing of IMEs performed at their behest. I underwent an IME that cost ~$5,000.00 -10,000.00 for an evaluation performed by 2 physicians.
    I believe this fee is outrageous and is not, in fact, payment for a thorough and studied medical review but rather a bribe in exchange for an opinion and treatment recommendation that eliminates or significantly reduces the benefits the insurer must pay.
    Can anyone tell me what the appropriate CPT codes would be for this kind of IME if they were required for payment?
    Also, are there regulations stipulating that CPT codes must be used to bill for medical services? I'm told that here it's simply a matter of charging what the market will bear.
