  1. Needing help with a new procedure our provider performed. He did the Kenalog and Marcaine injections (around the screws and hardware) was injected in a diffuse pattern over each pedicle site along the superficial and deep portion to the pedicular area. Not sure what codes I should use for the injections.

    thanks,

    Lisa

  2. Kenalog: J3301
    Marcaine: For Non-medicare...S0020 & for medicare J7799

  3. I was wondering what injection code to use, should I use the 64999, or shoudl we use 64483.
    thanks

  4. Unless until specifically mentioned of the site of injection, then we can use 64999. It is always better to clarify from the doctor about the site of injection before coding this, to find a possibility of using a specific code.

  5. this is what the dictation stated...
Under fluoroscopic guidance, the hardware screw heads were localized bilaterally at L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1. The corresponding skin was marked. The areas were thoroughly cleaned with Betadine. Sterile fields were obtained. Then, 2 cc of 1.0% Lidocaine was injected in the subcutaneous tissues at each site. Under fluoroscopic guidance, a 22-gauge spinal needle was advanced slowly to these regions. Aspiration was negative for blood or CSF. Then, 2 cc of 1.0% Lidocaine mixed with 5 mg of Kenalog was injected in a diffuse pattern along each of the screw heads.
    thank you,

  6. 64483-50
