  1. Can 10120 (removal of foreign body, subcutaneous tissues) be billed when foreign body was not found?

  2. No, if there is no foreign body 10120 will not be qualified.

  3. Can 10120 be billed with modifier 52 in this case or should it be removed?

  4. Depends on the level of incision.
If the level of digging is still to the level of subcutaneous and yet no foreign body found, then we can code 10120-52. But, if it is a simple superficial incision, and no foreign body found, then you can code a bit higher level of E/M rather.
