  1. Patient was admitted to the hospital from the office with abnormal echo and a low ejection fraction. His secondary diagnosis is Global Ventricular Dyskinesia. How do I code this?

    Thanks!

  2. Abnormal echocardiogram: 793.2, : Ventricular Dyskinesia: 427.89

If you code (from 793.2 category, then coding 427.89 as secondary would not be proper. The reverse is also not applicable as 427.89 is a non-specific code.

So, it is justifiable that only 793.2 is to be coded, if the report documentation also supports.

Otherwise only 427.89 can be coded too if it seems to be the underlying factor for which patient visited the doc's office.
