  1. My doctor had a patient scheduled for a 57522 leep. She was prepped in the usual manner and anesthesia was administered. The equipment broke down and the procedure was discontinued. Can I bill the '57522' with a -53 modifier?

  2. If the patient is prepped for surgery, is wheeled into the procedure room, and the physician decides not to continue with the procedure, append modifier -73 (discontinued outpatient hospital/ambulatory surgery center [ASC] procedure prior to the administration of anesthesia) to the procedure code.

IN THIS CASE:- 57522 with modifier 74.
If anesthesia is administered and then the procedure is stopped for a medical reason, append modifier -74 (discontinued outpatient hospital/ASC procedure after the administration of anesthesia) to the procedure code.
