   When a surgeon performs a hemicolectomy and also removes the appendix and the specimen is submitted in one container, when, if any, is it appropriate to bill 88307/88309 for the hemicolectomy and 88304/88302 for the appendix? For example when the colon is diagnosed with ischemic colitis and the appendix is seperately diagnosed with ischemic change would it be appropriate to bill 88307 and 88304?

   I agree. Both specimens are diagnosed with different diseases and specimens requiring gross and microscopic examination.
